The British Syrian Society was founded in 2003 with the aim of strengthening relations at all levels between Britain and Syria. We encourage, organise and sponsor a range of business, educational cultural and political activities in both countries.
Our members share a common bond - their attachment to Syria, whether they are British or Syrians. Indeed, anyone with an interest in Syrian and in fostering better relations between that country and the world is welcome to join. The range of our events reflects the range of our members interests, be it travel , trade, culture, history or politics.
The British Syrian Society is a registered not for profit company limited by guarantee, with two honorary presidents: the serving Syrian Ambassador in London and the serving British Ambassador in Damascus. An elected Board of Directors oversees the work of the Society. It functions through committees responsible for political, cultural, media, business & economics and membership & youth affairs.
